Mandu & Ajanta - Ellora Tours
Day 01 Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi airport where you are met by our representative and transferred
to the hotel.Overnight at Delhi
Day 2 Gwalior
Transfer in time to the station for a train to the fort city of Gwalior.
Check into the hotel at Gwalior on arrival .Overnight at Gwalior.
Day 3 Gwalior
Afer breakfast proceed for some sightseeing today covering the sprawling
Fort, with its characteristic blue enamel work and Sas-bahu temples, and
the extravagant Jai Vilas Palace of the Scindia family.
Day 4 In Bhopal
Travel to Bhopal on the morning Shatabdi Express. Bhopal, a historic town
set around scenic lakes, has some interesting old mosques, which you visit
in the afternoon.
Day 5 In Bhopal
Post breakfast ,Visit the village of Bhimbetka, now a World Heritage Site,
on the banks of the Betwa, where over 600 rock shelters and caves have been
discovered recently. Containing hundreds of paintings depicting the local
lifestyle some of these date back to the Upper Palaeolithic times. Also
visit Bhojpur and its 11th century Shiva temple with a 2.3-metre high "lingam",
and the incomplete Jain shrine with Mahavira's statue.
Day 6 Bhopal - Indore
Post breakfast leave for an excursion to Sanchi, another World Heritage
Site, which has the singular distinction of having specimens of all forms
of Buddhist architecture - stupas, chaitya, temples and monasteries. Dating
back to the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, it is the oldest Buddhist sanctuary
in existence.
Day 7 Indore - Maheshwar
Drive to Maheshwar via Omkareshwar , on the banks of the sacred Narmada
River. Also visitthe Ahilya fort.Overnight at Maheshwar.
Day 8 Maheshwar
Post breakfast ,Visit Mandu, the "City of Joy", one of the most
outstanding sites in central India. This ghost town is dotted with mosques
and palaces, made famous by the romance between Baz Bahadur and Rupmati.
Day 09 Maheshwar
Relax at the fort, stroll down the riverside or visit the sights of Maheshwar.
Day 10 Aurangabad
Enjoy a long drive to Aurangabad.On arrival check into the hotel and soend
the night there.
Days 11 & 12 Aurangabad
Dating back to the 2nd century BC, the Buddhist caves at Ajanta, a World
Heritage Site, with their beautiful tempera paintings, are part of India's
rich cultural heritage. The later Ellora caves, another World Heritage
Site, have Hindu, Jain and Buddhist sculpture including the Kailasa Temple,
carved out of a single rock on the mountainside. Visit the caves along
with Daulatabad and Bibi-ka-Makbara - mausoleum of Aurangzeb's wife, Rabia
Daurani, which is patterned on the Taj. N.B. The Ajanta caves are closed
on Mondays, Ellora caves on Tuesdays.
Day 13 Aurangabad - Delhi
Fly to Delhi.Reach th airport and get transferred to hotel prebooked for
you.
Day 14 In Delhi
Have a relaxed breakfast and proceed for a full day sightseeiung of Old
and New Delhi incluiding in Parliament building,India Gate,Qutab Minar,Humayuns
Tomb,Lotus temple,Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Rajghat - the "samadhi"
of Mahatma Gandh.Retuyrn and spend the night at Delhi
Day 15 Delhi - Onward destination
In time transfer to airoport to board onward flight.
