Day
01 Arrive Chennai Arrive Chennai and met by our representative and transfer
to hotel. Post lunch, leave for city tour of Chennai including Fort St.Geroge,
Marina Beach (the second longest beach in the world at a stretch of 4.5 kms),
ST Basilica, Parthasarthy temple, and Kapeeleshwar temple. Overnight at Chennai.
Day 02 Chennai - Mahabalipuram (65 Kms/1.5 hrs) After breakfast,
visit The Government Museum and Art Gallery which has objects of art, sculptures
and carvings from the Chola, Pandya, Pallava, and the Vijayanagar periods. Post
lunch, spend next couple of hours visiting National Art Gallery and Gallery of
Contemporary Arts located in the same complex of Museum. Later in the evening,
drive to Mahabalipuram. Arrive and check-in at hotel. Rest of the evening free
for own activities. Overnight at Mahabalipuram.
Day 03 Mahabalipuram
- Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram (26 Kms/45 min) After breakfast, leave
for full day excursion trip to Kanchipuram, which is famous for its good quality
silk and silken saris that it produces. This is one of the seven sacred cities
of India. Its temples are spectacular and the gopums can be seen from miles away.
Kanchipuram also has magnificent temples of unique architectural beauty, bearing
eloquent testimony to its glorious Dravidian heritage. Visit temples of Kailasnathar,
Vaikuntaperumal, Ekambareshwara, Kamakshiamma and Sakiswarar followed by shopping
of silk cloth market and weavers homes. Later drive back to Mahabalipuram the
city of monumental splondors and sunny beaches. Arrive Mahabalipuram and visit
Shore Temple, Five Rathas and Arjuna's Penace. Overnight at Mahabalipuram.
Day 04 Mahabalipuram - Pondichery (135 Kms/2.5 hrs) After breakfast
drive to Pondichery (about 140kms/03hrs). Arrive Pondichery and check in at hotel.
Afternoon visit to the Aurobindo Ashram and rest of the day free to stroll around.
Streets here still have a French influence. Overnight at Pondichery.
Day 05 Pondichery - Trichy (203 Kms/4.5 hrs) After breakfast check
out the hotel and drive to Trichy. Arrive Trichy and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon
take a sightseeing tour of Trichy. Trichy was the citadel of the Chola dynasty
in the medieval period. In the 18th century it witnessed the Carnatic wars fought
between the French and the English. Lord Robert Clive's house is still there to
see and so is the Danish Church. The Rock-Fort is the landmark of Trichy. A climb
of 434 steps leads to the ancient temple of Ganapati on top and a further climb
to a Shiva temple. Overnight at Trichy.
Day 06 Trichy - Chidambaran
- Tanjore (190 Kms/04 hrs) After an early breakfast drive to Tanjore (about
190kms/04hrs), enroute visit to Chidambaram Temple. Upon arrival, check into the
hotel. Afternoon visit to the Big Brihadeshvara Temple and the adjascent Bronze
Museum. Overnight at Tanjore.
Day 07 Tanjore - Rameshwaram (260 Kms/06
hrs) After a relaxed breakfast, spend next couple of hours at leisure.
Check-out in-time and drive to Rameshwaram. Arrive Rameshwaram early in the evening
and check-in at hotel. Evening free for own activities. Overnight at Rameshwaram.
Day 08 In Rameshwaram Post breakfast, visit the city, often referred
to as the 'Island of Prayer', and also considered to Varanasi of the South this
major pilgrimage center is on an island in the Gulf of Mannar. Most of the town's
places to stay and eat are clustered around the Ramanathaswamy Temple. Built in
the 12th century AD, the temple with its awe-inspiring corridors, and the longest
in India. Overnight in Rameshwaram.
Day 09 Rameshwaram - Madurai (200
Kms approx/04 hrs) After an early breakfast drive to Madurai. Arrive Madurai
and check into the hotel. Afternoon free for own activities and explore the city.
In the evening, visit to the Meenakshi Temple and attend the evening 'aaraty'
ceremony. Overnight at Madurai.
Day
10 Madurai - Thekeddy (140 Kms/04 hrs) After breafkast drive to Thekkady
(about 155kms/04 hrs). Arrive and check into the hotel. Rest of the day free to
relax or stroll around the nearby small spice market of Kumily. Overnight at Thekeddy.
Day 11 In Thekeddy Early morning at 06.00 hrs, explore the Periyar
wildlife sanctuary for 2 hours. Motor boat ride on the man made lake which encircles
the wildlife. Return to hotel for breakfast and further drive to nearby one of
the plantations to know more about the spices of Kerala. Overnight at Thekeddy.
Day 12 Thekkedy - Munnar (110 Kms/03 hrs) After breakfast drive
to Munnar (about 110kms/03hrs). Check into the hotel. Rest of the day free to
relax or stroll around the tea gardens and to see the scenic beauty of Munnar.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 13 In Munnar After breakfast visit
to the nearby Rajamalai National Park where you can spot the endangered species
Niligiri Thar. Explore the park on foot, the views are stunning from the top of
the park. Afternoon free to relax. Overnight at Munnar.
Day 14 Munnar
- Cochin (130 Kms/3.5 hrs) After a relaxed breakfast, spend some time
at leisure for own activities. Check-out intime and drive to Cochin. Arrive Cochin
early in evening and check-in at hotel. Rest of the day free to relax. Overnight
at Cochin.
Day 15 In Cochin In-time transfer to airport to
meet your wife and daughter arriving by 08:55 am and transfer to hotel. Post lunch,
visit to the Mattanchery Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue and the Jew Street. Further
drive to Fort Kochi area to visit the old Churches and the huge Chinese Fishing
nets which adorn the northern shores. Evening watch the dance drama of Kerala
- the Kathakali show in a local theatre. Overnight at Cochin.
Day
16 Cochin - Kumarakom (120 Kms approx/3 hrs) After breakfast drive to
Kumarakom and check-in at hotel. Full day at leisure to enjoy the scenic beauty
of Kumarakom. Overnight at Kumarakom.
Day 17 In Kumarakom
Post breakfast, spend full day at leisure for own activity. Overnight at Kumarakom.
Day 18 In Kumarakom After breakfast, spend rest of the day at
lesiure and for relaxation. Overnight at Kumarakom.
Day 19 Kumarakom
- Alleppey Post breakfast drive to board houseboat. Start cruise through
the inland canals and lagoons of Vembanadu Lake. Overnight at houseboat.
Day 20 Alleppey - Kovalam (175 Kms/3-4 hrs) Checkout from the houseboat
and proceed to Kovalam en-route visit the tourist attractions of the Trivandrum
city. Check in at the hotel on arrival at Kovalam and stay overnight at the hotel.
Kovalam is recknoed the most trendy beach retreat in India, which is
a combination of three small beaches. Spend some time in exploring the scenic
beauty of Kovalam. Overnight at Kovalam.
Day 21 In Kovalam
Spend full day at leisure for own activities. Overnight at Kovalam.
Day 22 Kovalam - Kanyakumari (87 Kms/1.5 hrs) - Kovalam After an early
breakfast, leave for excursion trip to Kanyakumari. Kanyakumari is the point where
the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean merge. It is a breathtaking
sight. You can actually make out the three different colors of the waters, and
watching them merge into one another at dusk is an unforgettable experience. Visit
Vivekanand Rock Memorial, The Sangam and The Lighthouse. After seeing sunset view,
return to Kovalam. Overnight at Kovalam.
Day 23 In Kovalam
After breakfast spend full day at leisure for own activities. Overnight at Kovalam.
Day 24 Kovalam - Trivandrum - onwards (16 Kms/45 min) 01:00
AM - In-time transfer to airport to board the early morning EK flight for onward
destination.
